Home Safe Homes provides custom home modifications and mobility equipment that enable people of all ages and abilities to continue living at home as comfortably and safely as possible. As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and member of the International Association for Child Safety, Home Safe Homes understands how to design and build attractive, safe and barrier-free living environments for those with limited mobility.
Kent McCool, President
Kent is the founder and owner of Home Safe Homes, Inc. and oversees the organization’s focus on quality and customer service. He launched Home Safe Homes in 2001 with the goal to prevent accidents and injuries among children and adults by providing education, quality products, and professional installation.
He is a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) and a member of the International Association for Child Safety. He has appeared on numerous television stations and has been called on as a home safety expert when necessary by many local Indianapolis media outlets.
Kent graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He belongs to and is active in Rainmakers, Bethel Lutheran Church, Boomers and Beyond, and Noblesville Youth Sports, He is the father of Ella and Jake.
Doug Tandy, Operations Manager
Doug brings 25+ years of experience to Home Safe Homes. His diverse knowledge and background is a huge asset. He is responsible for leading and overseeing all Home Safe Homes installations.
He has certifications with the following products: Harmar & Handicare Stairlifts, Molift Ceiling Lifts, Best Bath Systems, and Ez Access Ramps. He is dedicated and has a passion for helping and serving our clients.
Doug has been married to his wife, Janice, for 35 years. He is a father to Kevin and Sara, and a grandfather to Mya and Cali. Doug and his wife have a cat, named Boo, and a Husky named Nala.
Rachel Baker, Business Development
Rachel is a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics and also completed all pre-requisite classes for Occupational Therapy. She worked at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana as a Therapy Tech for 3 years and brings that medical experience to our team. In addition to her healthcare experience, she also has 14 years of experience in childcare and is passionate about home safety.
Rachel’s roles and responsibilities with Home Safe Homes are varied and vital. She is responsible for many of the business development and community relations activities. She also helps maintain our social media presence, and relationships with our vital referral partners; including but not limited to Occupational Therapists, rehab facilities, discharge planners, case managers, and the general medical community as a whole. Rachel is also involved with website management and completing home safety assessments.
She married her husband, Will, in June of 2017. Rachel and Will live in Carmel with their adventurous pup, Bilbo. In her free time, Rachel loves to bake cupcakes, dance, craft, and spend time with her family and friends.
